Visiting Fellow 1 May 2019 - 9 May 2019
Josh Gold (@joshgold3) graduated from the University of Toronto in 2018, where his bachelor’s thesis focused on the 2007 cyber attacks against Estonia and the country’s strategic use of cybersecurity since.
As part of a directed studies course at the University of Toronto under the direction of Professor Ronald J Deibert, Director of the Citizen Lab, Josh is working on a research project that will propose a cyber foreign policy for Canada. He will look at Canada’s story within different models for governing global cyberspace, assessing where and how Canada fits. Much of his work will center on international action such as norms development. Through working with The Hague Program for Cyber Norms' experts, Josh looks to solidify an informed position for Canada within this normative space that is most in-line with Canada’s foreign policy interests and values – while also considering leading approaches of its allies.
Josh is a full-time competitive swimmer, swimming at the University of Toronto in Canada. He represents Estonia internationally and competed at the 2018 European Championships.
